Why Fit Camp?

Faith Based Fit Camp

Lakewood Park, Brandon

If you're looking for a way to become more active, boot camp is a great option. Fit camps involve a lot of movements, community and are a great way to dedicate one hour to making yourself healthier. They're diverse workouts and can be a lot of fun. I started taking boot camp classes back in 2012 and immediately fell in love with working out. It was a small step that would lead to a big change. In that year, I attended boot camp regularly and lost 25 pounds without majorly altering my diet (although it was typically healthy to begin with, outside the occasional bowl of mac and cheese). Boot camps kept me motivated to keep up with fitness through movement, friends and progression.

Diversify my Workout

For a good number of us, when we go to the gym or decide to partake in physical fitness we go for what we know (me included). It's hard to get outside of our comfort zone. Fit camps (especially Faith Based Boot Camps) incorporate a number of ways to train. In one boot camp alone you get variety. HIIT (high intensity interval training), circuit, calisthenics, weight training and yoga are just a few ways boot camps will push you outside your comfort zone. In our Faith Based Boot Camp workouts, we incorporate all of these exercises and possibly additional. Expect to work your entire body. Yes, we believe in full body workouts! For a number of clients, this is their bridge to a healthier life. We want them and you to be able to work everything without focusing on one body part or group over another.

We're Better Together

One of my favorite bible versus says "As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another." -Proverbs 27:17 There have been multiple times that I've tried to lose weight or grow in my faith alone. For the most part, if I'm being completely honest with myself, It's proven unsuccessful. The bible references not being alone numerous times. In fact, in Genesis, we get the first reference of God saying something is not good, and he's referring to Adam being alone (Genesis 2:18). I truly believe we are positioned to help others and be in community. Whether it's growing your neighbors faith or their fitness. Bible study groups and small groups (we have them at my church) are so successful because they're done in community. You remember what someone said or did and it sticks with you. This holds true for boot camp as well. You make lasting friendships (Lindsey, Dana, Daneel, Jessica... the list goes on)  and those friendships grow. You help each other set goals and accomplish them. Faith Based Boot Camps are a positive environment for growing spiritually and crushing goals physically.

Time Flies When You're Having a Great Time

One of the biggest benefits of boot camps is that the hour workout flies by. Between the variety, the fun of the amazing people around you and the great music, the time passes by very quickly. However, it doesn't pass by without reward. In one boot camp hour, you can burn 500-600 calories and I always have my watch tracking to prove it. There's something about boot camp that really pushes you without making you want to give up. Also, with the variety, it's really hard to get bored. By the end, you won't believe you've actually worked out for 60 minutes.
